When you add a domain as hosted in some account, you usually set a pair of Name Servers to point it to that particular provider. On their end, three records are created automatically when the Internet domain is added - one A record and two MX records. The first one is a numeric address, or IP address, which “tells” the domain address where its website is, while the other two are alphanumeric and they show the server that deals with the e-mails for that specific domain address. The website and the email hosting are often perceived as one thing, while they're in fact two different services. Having independent records for them will permit you to have them with different providers if you would like. For example, some new provider might have exceptional uptime for your site, but you might not want to switch your e-mails from your current host and by using an A record to point the domain to the former and MX records to have the emails with the second, you will get the best of both providers. These records are checked when you want to open a website or send an e-mail - either way, the company whose name servers are used for the domain name is going to be contacted to retrieve the A and MX records and if you have set records different from their own, the right web/mail server will then be contacted and you will see the needed site or your e-mail will be delivered.

Custom MX and A Records in Cloud Hosting

If you have a Linux cloud hosting through us, you'll be able to view, create and change any A or MX record for your domain names. So long as a given Internet domain has our Name Servers, you are going to be able to to modify certain records by using our Hepsia hosting CP and have your site or emails pointed to any other service provider if you'd like to use only one of our services. Our sophisticated tool will allow you to have a domain name hosted here and a subdomain below it to be hosted someplace else by modifying only its A record - this will not affect the main Internet domain at all. If you decide to use the e-mail services of a different service provider and they want you to create more than two MX records, you can easily do this with only a couple of mouse clicks through the DNS Records section of your Control Panel. You may also set different latency for every single MX record i.e. which one will have priority.

Custom MX and A Records in Semi-dedicated Hosting

If you buy a semi-dedicated server plan through our company, you will be able to see and change the A and MX records for any of the domain addresses or subdomains which you host inside the account. The Hepsia CP, which you'll get to take care of the account, offers an innovative, albeit easy-to-use tool in which all hosts will be listed in alphabetical order and you will be able to modify their records with no more than several clicks. If you have to create a new record, it will be equally easy - select the domain/subdomain, enter the IP address or mail server record and you are going to be ready. You will also be able to set different priority for the MX records which you create in case you want to use a third-party email provider and they ask you to set up additional records apart from the 2 default ones. In case you experience any difficulties, we've got a comprehensive Help section with videos where you can see first-hand how to create or change any record.
